Article description
Folio. Half leather, spine gilt. 8 pp.; Illustrated with 178 etchings on 82 plates. 2nd edition, probably published around 1845, originally first published 1809 at Frauenholz in Nürnberg as,Òeuvre complet'. Fine engraved beautiful landscape scenes, in total 178 etchings on 82 plates printed. All in very good impressions. Kobell is one of the most important landscape etchers and landscape painters in Germany in the second half of the 18th century. Admired by Goethe and many other art connoisseurs and collectors of his time, he stands on the border between the baroque ideas of landscape and the new understanding that should favor the romantic conception of art. Art writer, art critic, poet, professor at the Berlin Academy of Arts, member of the Academic Senate of the Berlin Academy of Arts, lecturer in the Prussian Ministry of Education.Nebst einem einleitenden Vorworte von F.
