Original color lithograph map, in original outline color. This fine and detailed map, which was published in in the rare French book,L'Orégon et les côtes de l'Océan Pacifique du Nord, aperçu géographique, statistique et politique.' by P.A. Fedix in 1846. The map shows the "ligne proposé par les Etats-Unis" at the 49th parallel, which was the final dividing line in the treaty of 1846, with the exception that all of Vancouver Island went to Great Britain. In 1848, the United States portion officially became the Oregon Territory and later consisted of the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and parts of two other states, while the British portion became the southern portion of what is now British Columbia in Canada. A very rare and detailled map on the Oregon territory. The map depicts also the sources of the the Missouri river, the Yellowstone river, it shows parts of Montana, Idaho and extendes towards Cap Mendocino in Northern California. An unusal early very rare map of the northwestern part of the United States. Not listed in the catalogue of the Graff collection of Western Americana. In very good to excellent condition, the map was published folded, the folds verso with thin Japan paper strenghtend.
