Decorative hand colored antique woodcut map, published in the Cosmographia by Sebastian Münster in a German text edition 1550. Ornated with a descriptive cartouche and a large ship in the sea. Various kingdoms are named in the African continent, as well rivers and mountains are shown. Various elements like animals and trees were used for the decoration of the map. A very good example of this much sought after early map of Africa.
