The watercolor depicts the Pyramids of Giza at sunset, in the foreground the river nile is shown with beduins on cameles and two inhabitants, which are fetching water in clay vessels. The fine watercolor by the famous orientalist Friedrich Perlberg (1848-1921) probably was painted around 1896. This fine watercolor is offered by us framed in in a fine decorative antique frame as it was in possession by the previous owners. The artwork was examined by us and is in excellent condition. At the bottom titled ,Pyramiden von Gizeh bei Sonenuntergang' and signed 'F. Perlberg München' in the lower right corner. Friedrich Perlberg was the son of the painter Georg Christian Perlberg (1806–1884). He studied from 1868 to 1875 architecture and landscape painting at the school of applied arts in Nürnberg and Paris. His main place of work was in Munich, however also in Italy, Spain and and especially in the Orient. In 1896 he undertook a travel to Egypt, Nubia and the Sudan. In 1898 he was part of the journey of Kaiser Wilhelm II in the Holy Land.
