Article description
Copper engraving, hand colored in wash and outline when published. The map published in one of Homann's major atlases at Johann Baptist Homann in Nürnberg. The upper part with decorative hand colored allegories with puttos and symbols for the archbishop of Eichstätt in Bavaria. In the centre with fine decorations in the title cartouch. In the lower left corner a panoramic view of the residence town Eichstätt with the castle Willibaldsburg. Decorated with allegories of water gods to the river Altmühl. The map shows the area of Eichstätt towards Ansbach, Ingolstadt and Neumarkt. In the lower left corner the dating ,1745 when the map was revised.S.R.I.
