Original copper engraving, uncolored as published. Double-hemisphere world map, published in the 1619 French text edition of Gerard Mercator's atlas. A strong impression of this beautiful double hemisphere world map, which is surrounded by fine elegant engraved renaissance strapwork. Between the two hemispheres at the top is an armillary sphere and at the bottom a compass engraved. Further this fine engraved rare map is ornated with a ship sailing towards the Magelan Street and a sea monster in the Indian Ocean.
