The work contains interesting details on the nature of the soil, the productions of trade and industry of the country, it traces the wars of the French against the English and the natives. Baudry des Lozières analyzes with finesse and precision the historical and current circumstances of Louisiana; it expands on its resources in wheat, wine, vegetables and game as well as on ornithology, ichthyology and entomology; he describes the culture of tobacco and the habits of the Louisiana people. The map engraved out of text by L. Collin goes from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.
