Privately bound album with eight doublepage fine etchings. Bound in black goat leather, simple decorated along the covers with empressed gilt lines. Illustrated with 10 fine etchings, printed on eight doublepage plates all by Romeyn de Hooghe. These fine etchings do show the cruelties of the French in the Dutch villages Bodegrave and Swammerdam around 1670. These plates were originally published in a book by Abraham de Wicquefort. These dramatic scenes are depicting the looting and murder of the French troops, also in large panoramic scenes the disasters and cruelties of the war are shown. Published as a furious indictment against the exactions of French troops in Flanders and Brabant in the second half of the 17th century.
