Article description
Original lithograph in colours, published as a double page folded original-lithograph in the issue of Derriere le Mirror in June 1962. Unsigned and unnumbered edition of 5000. A couple in love in pink surrender to their dreams on the back of a large bird and exchange caresses. In the background a fishing village nestles against two hills, in the foreground you can see palm trees and the face of a mysterious person in green. Below them the bright blue sea with a sailing boat and jumping fish. Marc Chagall (born June 24th / July 6th, 1887 in Peskowatik, today a district of Vitebsk, Russian Empire, now Belarus; † March 28, 1985 in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France) was a Russian-French painter Jewish religious affiliation. His birth name was Мойше Хацкелевич Шагал / Moische Chazkelewitsch Schagal. The family environment, his hometown of Vitebsk and motifs from the Bible and the circus are the main themes of his pictures. He also used the same, recurring symbols in his mosaics and in the windows and theater sets he designed. Chagall is considered one of the most important painters of the 20th century. He is often assigned to expressionism and referred to as a "painter-poet". (Wikipedia)Mourlot 356
