Article description
Original screenprint in blue colorway by Sir Eduardo Luigi Paolozzi, signed in pencil and numbered 2287/3000. Dry stamp of Galerie Dorothea Leonhart, Munich, in the lower left corner. Printed and published 1971 in Munich. Sheet: 85 × 59.7 cm (33.5 × 23.5 in). Part of the iconic 'Bash' series — one of the defining Pop Art screenprints of the 1970s. Sir Eduardo Paolozzi (1924 Leith, Scotland – 2005 London) is widely recognised as one of the founding fathers of Pop Art, pre-empting the American movement with his collage work of the late 1940s and 1950s. A central figure of the Independent Group in London, Paolozzi drew on the visual language of science, technology, mass media and consumer culture to create some of the most powerful and original art of the post-war period. His screenprints are held in the Tate, the V&A, the Yale University Art Gallery, and major international collections. The title 'Bash' stands for 'Baroque All Style High'. The series was produced in five colorways at Advanced Graphics, London, and published by Galerie Dorothea Leonhart, Munich, in 1971 in an edition of 3000. Each print carries the gallery's dry stamp in the lower left corner and is hand-signed and numbered in pencil by the artist. The blue colorway presents a bold, layered composition of mechanical and organic forms characteristic of Paolozzi's celebrated graphic language. Sheet size: 85 × 59.7 cm. In excellent condition. Colors vivid and bright. No tears, creases, or foxing. Ready to frame.Eduardo Paolozzi – Bash (Blue) · Original Signed Screenprint, Numbered 2287/3000 · Galerie Dorothea Leonhart Munich · 1971
