Article description
Original screenprint in orange-pink colorway by Sir Eduardo Luigi Paolozzi, signed in pencil and numbered 2364/3000. Dry stamp of Galerie Dorothea Leonhart, Munich, in the lower left corner. Printed and published 1971 in Munich. Sheet: 85 × 59.7 cm (33.5 × 23.5 in). Part of the iconic 'Bash' series — one of the defining Pop Art screenprints of the 1970s. Sir Eduardo Paolozzi (1924 Leith, Scotland – 2005 London) is widely recognised as one of the founding fathers of Pop Art, pre-empting the American movement with his collage work of the late 1940s and 1950s. A central figure of the Independent Group in London, Paolozzi drew on the visual language of science, technology, mass media and consumer culture to create some of the most powerful and original art of the post-war period. The title 'Bash' stands for 'Baroque All Style High'. The series was produced in five colorways at Advanced Graphics, London, and published by Galerie Dorothea Leonhart, Munich, in 1971 in an edition of 3000. The orange-pink colorway is among the most striking of the five variants, its warm tones intensifying the energy of Paolozzi's layered mechanical imagery. Each print carries the gallery's dry stamp and is hand-signed and numbered in pencil. Sheet size: 85 × 59.7 cm. In excellent condition. Colors vivid and bright. No tears, creases, or foxing. Ready to frame.Eduardo Paolozzi – Bash (Orange Pink) · Original Signed Screenprint, Numbered 2364/3000 · Galerie Dorothea Leonhart Munich · 1971
