Article description
Copper-engraving, decorative handcolored in outline and wash. Published in a Latin text edition of J. Jansson's historical Atlas. A very handsome and decorative map of ancient Spain based on classical antique maps. Colored finely in wash and outline. The map was engraved by A. Goos. In the lower left corner of the map we find a title cartouche, next to it the signature of the engraver of the map 'Abraham Goos'. In the lower right corner a large descriptive cartouche listing the various ancient Spanish tribes, the ancient city names, as well names of mountains and rivers. Above we find a inset map of Gades, richly ornated with a Roman soldier. In the upper left corner a cartouche with a small milage scale. The decorative map shows many engraved place names, rivers, mountains and historical places. Recently viewed products
