Article description
Original watercolor. An original watercolor of George Washington's home overlooking the Potomac River in Virginia. Signed in the lower center by the artist,Pleskov'. The notation in German language of the title "Vernon in Virginien" suggests, that the artist Pleskov is of German origin. Due to the notation of "Virginen" instead of "Virginia", it was painted around the lifetime of George Washington. Similar views of Virginia are existing, for example Alexander Robertson's engraving "Mount Vernon of Virginia" from the 1800s.
