- Condition: Decorative oldcolored example of this map. Due of the old oxidation in the old colors, the reverse side of the map was carefully filled with paper fibers. A small skillfully mending in the eastern part of the Arabian penninsula, else a very good to excellent example of this map.
Article description
Copper engraving, hand colored in outline and wash when published. Decorative map of the Turkish empire by the famous Dutch map maker Nicolaus Visscher. A higly decorative map of the Middle East with Arabia, Persia, Asia Minor towards the Caspian Sea. Equipped in the lower left corner with an allegoric title cartouche decorated with a scene showing the people paying homage to the ruler of the ottoman kingdom. Political borders on the map in outline colors as published, many engraved place names, mountains, rivers, names of regiones, etc.
