Original copper engraving, finely later hand colored in wash and outline. Published 1612 in the famous historical atlas "Parergon" (Latin text-edition) by Abraham Ortelius. A historical map of ancient France. The cartographical sources of this antique map was made by Abraham Ortelius on the basis of ancient information from Caesar's ,De Bello Gallico'. The map is ornated with a decorative title cartouche on the upper left side and a decorative text cartouche in the lower left corner. On the left and right side we find a list of famous people (left) and tribes (right) in Gallia as described by J. Caesar. Villages and towns are shown as miniature views, moreover the map is ornated with ships.Koe. Ort. 46; Broe. 195
