Original copper engraving, published 1612 in the famous historical Atlas "Parergon" (Latin text-edition) by Abraham Ortelius. Finely later hand-colored in wash and outline. Ten small maps of divers islands in the Mediterranean are included on this doublepage engraved old map. Among the ten maps of these islands in the Mediterranean we find Rinia & Dilos, Nicaria, Euboea, Samos, Keos (near Euboea), Rhodes, Chios, Cyprus, Lesbos and Lemnos. On the largest map, which is showing Cyprus we find two further cartouches with the title ,Cyprus Insula laeta choris, blandorum et mater amorum' and an inset with a list of place names on the island of Cyprus and the ,privilegium' dated 1584. The title cartouche appears on top in the middle. An interesting and much sought after antique map of Cyprus, which was published 1584 for the first time in the ,Theatrum Orbis Terrarum' and 1612 and 1624 in the ,Parergon'.
