Original antique copper engraving, uncolored as published. This map completes the research of the forerunner of Alpine geology, Horace Bénédict de Saussure (1740-1799). As a Geneva physicist, geologist and naturalist, he reached the summit of Mont Blanc in 1787 and carried out field observations there.
