Original antique copper engraving, hand colored. Very rare antique map of the Roman Empire, hand colored, with a large inset map of the region around Rome, engraved by Jacopo Ruphon. Very decorative and detailed map with many place names (illustrated with small drawings of houses and fortresses), rivers and mountains shown. In the upper left corner a title cartouche and a beautifully ornamented desriptive cartouche.
