A fine decorative example of antique cartography by F. Stülpnagel, rich in period detail and historical significance. Friedrich von Stülpnagel (1786–1865) was a Prussian military cartographer and the foremost map author of the Justus Perthes publishing house in Gotha — one of the most respected geographical publishers of the nineteenth century. His maps for Stieler's Handatlas set the standard for scientific cartography of the era, noted for their accuracy, clarity, and elegant steel engraving. Perthes/Stieler maps remain highly regarded by collectors for their quality and the prestigious Gotha imprint. This original antique copper engraving depicts Der Nordöstliche Theil von Frankreich ent. u. g... with characteristic nineteenth century cartographic detail — showing towns, rivers, mountain ranges, and administrative boundaries engraved with the precision and artistry of the period.
