Original antique hand-colored lithograph, published 1844. Depicting Livorno, this map is a fine example of 0s European cartography. Sheet: 118 by 178mm (4 by 7 inches). An attractive and historically significant 19th-century map for the discerning collector. R. Gross was a German cartographer active in the mid-19th century, known for producing detailed city plans published in 1844. His plans of Livorno and Milan are careful surveys reflecting the topographic and administrative organization of these Italian cities in the pre-Unification period. Fine and decorative small plan of Livorno, engraved with many details and equipped with an extensive table of explanations.
